Sweet and Sour Meatballs
This was one of my mother's "go to" recipes. Everyone loves it!Makes about 50 appetizer-sized meatballs or about 20 meal-sized meatballs

Ingredients
Sauce
- 2 cups tomato juice
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 jar sweet & sour cabbage (optional)
- 1 small can sauerkraut
- 1-2 Tbsp grape jelly
- 2 ginger snaps
Meatballs
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup corn flake crumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, minced
- 2 Tbsp water
- salt, pepper, garlic salt to taste
Instructions
Sauce
- Put all of the sauce ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil.
Meatballs
- Mix all of the meatball ingredients together in a large bowl.
- Gently form meat mixture into meatballs, being careful not to over handle.
- Add meatballs to the boiling sauce.
- Simmer covered for about 1-1/2 hours.
Notes
Even better if made at least a day before serving!
